My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health

The Movember Foundation is the only global charity focused solely on men's health, so this Movember I'm getting on board. I'm raising funds to tackle some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and poor mental health. Help me stop men dying too young.

Good work team! Perhaps we should start informing our co-workers they need to donate to have us shave the mo's off at the end of Movember, otherwise they stay!

Now is the time to stop men dying too young! Suicide ranks in the top 10 leading causes of death in men. In 2017, there were an additional 262 deaths by suicide than 2016 with a total of 3128 people taking their life. Of those people, about 75% were male.

Speak up and look out for your friends.

Afternoon everyone, another day another update to my Mo, it's not growing quite as I expected but hopefully over the next few days it'll begin to thicken up a bit and I'll be able to make it look a bit nicer!

Today we are talking about testicular cancer. Why? because it's the second most common cancer in men aged 18-39.

For Australian men the risk of being diagnosed with testicular cancer by age 85 is 1 in 218. The rate of men diagnosed with testicular cancer in the last 30 years has grown 50%!

The good news is the survival rate is very high if detected and the appropriate medical treatment is taken.

It's important for every man to get familiar with his testicles.

Read more about checking yourself here:

https://au.movember.com/mens-health/testicular-cancer

You can read more information from the cancer council of Australia here:

http://www.cancer.org.au/about-cancer/types-of-cancer/testicular-cancer.html

Together let's continue to fight for men's health and ensure we catch these things early for the best possible outcome.

Hey everyone! So the first few days of November are already done. I've got my idea of my mo, I've taken a couple of days to grow it and now I'm ready to share it.

Today we're going to talk about prostate cancer. I think it's very important that men get regular check-ups and also check themselves. Firstly let's talk statistics.

Its estimated that in Australia there will be 16,665 males diagnosed with prostate cancer for 2017. That represents an estimated 23.1% of all types of cancers males will be diagnosed with this year. As many as 3452 males will die this year from prostate cancer alone.

This means prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men and is set to reach the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia being about 1100 new cases only behind breast cancer.

By your 85th birthday you have a 1 in 7 chance of being diagnosed with prostate cancer as a male.

The best news is if found early it's also one of the most treatable cancers.

Let's work together to fight prostate cancer, but what can you do?

My recommendation is to follow the cancer council guidelines here: https://www.cancercouncil.com.au/1301/cancer-information/cancer-risk-and-prevention/screening-and-early-detection/reducing-your-of-prostate-cancer/

If you're concerned speak to your doctor and they will be able to provide the best advice for you.

If you feel we could benefit from further research and funding for cancers in men, please feel free to donate to me this Movember as we grow my Mo together and raise awareness around men's mental and physical health.
