My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Mental health and suicide prevention

I’ve decided to take part in Movember this month to help raise support and awareness for men’s health, both physical and mental, and to support the sons, fathers, brothers, and mates in our lives. Mental health, particularly depression, is an area that hits way too close to home for me and I want to make a difference and continue to raise more awareness on mental health issues, and to help continue to break the stigmatism and uncomfortableness that still somewhat exists with mental health.

Globally, the rate of suicide is alarmingly high, particularly in men. Too many men are ‘toughing it out’, keeping their feelings to themselves and struggling in silence. The Movember Foundation is aiming to reduce the rate of male suicide by 25% by 2030, and I want to help them get there. Help me stop men dying too young.

The past year and a bit have been and continue to be tough on many. There has been a larger growing awareness of not only mental health issues, but also the impact the pandemic has had on people’s mental health. I’ve shared some of my own struggles with depression even before this pandemic, and will admit that this pandemic have been very tough on me at times as well. This pandemic has really challenged me and teach me to take ownership to own my mental health, and not “tough it out”. In these continued uncertain times, its more important than ever to ensure you are taking care of and owning your own mental health, as I firmly believe not doing so will eventually have impacts to other parts of your life. To help promote good mental and physical health this month, I’ve also decided to give up alcohol and to participate in the movement challenge by walk 60 km during the month. I will also continue to share things I’ve done that have helped me own my own mental health.

It's okay to not be okay, especially in these continued tough and uncertain times.

Help me spread this message.

Men's mental health and supporting men to get the care they need (physical or mental) is so very important to me. There is still such a stigma surrounding mental health and there continues to be considerable barriers for those humans socialized as men to get the help they need. Thanks for being a part of this great cause Chris!
