My motivation
Fundraising for cause areas including:
Men's health
Mental health and suicide prevention

Like many of us, I have close friends, colleagues and family members who have been affected by cancer. I hope my participation will help to raise awareness about and funds to support those affected by cancer. Further, the Movember Foundation also works in the area of mental health and suicide prevention. All very worthy causes, don't you agree?

Together we surpassed ambitious fund-raising targets of $5000, and then $9000. This was achieved only because you generously responded to my appeals to support Movember. It certainly was not because I spent a great deal of time snowshoeing during the month, as precipitation of any kind continues to be in short supply.

Thanks to everyone who contributed, and best wishes for the holiday season.

So glad to have you back again this year - one more day to go! We really appreciate all youve done from men's health. The fundraising yes - but the connection and conversations youve started with your efforts - good as gold! Thank you!

The "ALEC" model to facilitate meaningful conversations about mental health is one of the many strategies that Movember is promoting to encourage what may be difficult topics for many of us. Further details are available at https://conversations.movember.com/en/ALEC/

A view of the Sweetgrass Hills from the East. Here the "big sky" spills over from Montana to Alberta, and has been inspiration to humans inhabiting the area since the ice retreated perhaps 12,000 years ago.

On the weekend we did some exploring out at the Milk River Natural Area, home to one of the deepest canyons on the Northern Great Plains in Canada. Here one can see the shadows cast by some of our hiking group, and the other-worldly landscape set against the wispy clouds in a blue sky.

I find that getting outdoors, and having a break from routine often can be refreshing. On this particular day I thought I'd get up early to avoid the "refreshing" winds of Lethbridge. No such luck, but still the sunrise was nice.

Hello my friends in agriculture in the Lethbridge region and beyond. Please be aware that Pringles is a major sponsor of the 2023 Movember campaign (Mr. Pringle even shaved his 'stache). To make your donation go even further, all you have to do is donate $50 or more on Wednesday 15-November-2023, and Pringles will add another $25, just like that. Thanks for your support. - Ben

In early Movember we had a rare opportunity to visit a special tributary of the Milk River, where we spent the day exploring the wind-sculped sandstone formations.

In late October we enjoyed excellent weather for our ascent up Forum Ridge on the Alberta-BC border. This is the view to the east, over-looking the south end of Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes NP which just extends into Glacier NP, Montana USA.

This is an eastward view out to the prairie from the flanks of Drywood Mountain (Castle Provincial Park) on a very windy day in mid-October (Chinook in the name of our hiking club is apt). If one looks closely, Waterton reservoir can be seen near the horizon.

Thought that my generous donors might enjoy some photos from some of my weekend excursions into the great outdoors. This one is from early October, near the end of larch season on Avion Ridge at the northern boundary of Waterton Lakes NP. The following day we gathered for our annual, noisy family celebration of thanksgiving.

Note: As donations can be made privately, not all donations are displayed to the public.
